The towns of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo offer a variety of different places to visit. The following is a list with the name and description of the different tours and activities I recommend:

Ixtapa Island Tour

Coral Beach - At Ixtapa Island

Includes transportation from your hotel, to the Island and back, lunch and professional tour guide service. Departure is at 10 AM from the lobby of your hotel. It takes about 15 minutes to get from the hotel to the pier and 10 minutes from the pier to the island. Your lunch (included with the tour) is a guacamole for appetizer, and a fish filet with rice and salad and a beer or a soft drink. The Island has three beaches to choose all within a very short walking distance. Two of the beaches have calm water where you can swim or snorkel on the coral reef (snorkel equipment rents for $12 us dollars for the entire day). For an extra fee you can relax and have a wonderful massage as a cool breeze blows over you.

The return is usually around 3:30 PM. On the way back to the hotel we stop at a lagoon where we can see crocodiles, iguanas, turtles and different kinds of birds in a natural habitat.

Recommendations: Bring your swimsuit, towel, sun block and under water camera.

Las Gatas Beach Tour

Las Gatas Beach - In Zihuatanejo

Includes transportation from your hotel, to Las Gatas Beach and back, lunch and professional tour guide service. Departure is at 11 AM from the lobby of your hotel.
We can visit some shops in Zihua then board a boat which will take us the beautiful beach of Los Gatos. 400 years ago the Tarascan king Caltzontzín had a wall built, underwater, to protect the shore from waves and sharks. What remains is a very calm beach for swimming and some of the best snorkeling (at an extra fee) in Western Mexico. During the snorkeling tour try to find Jesus! (A 12’ bronze statue of Jesus has been sunk in the bay)

Recommendations: Bring your swimsuit, towel, sun block and under water camera.

Combination Tour (City and Country Side Tour)

Includes transportation from, and return to your hotel, lunch and tour guide service. Departure is at 9:00 A.M. The first part of the tour consist on showing the cultural and the NOT TURISTY part of Zihuatanejo, on the second part we visit a tropical fruit plantation where we can see and taste some of the fruits we grow in the area. The second stop is at a brick and tile factory where we can see one of the very few industries we have in the area. The last stop is at a beautiful beach and lagoon that flows into the ocean. There is also a nice beach-side restaurant where you will be served your choice of a red snapper on the grill with rice and salad or a fish filet also with rice and salad (included with tour). It also comes with a beer or a soft drink. We will start our return around 3:45 P.M.

Recommendations: Sun block, sunglasses, walking shoes and a hat or a cap.

Safari Tour: Horseback ride on the beach, Lagoon boat ride
and Lunch in Barra Potosi Beach

Lagoon - At Barra de Potosi

Includes transportation there and back, lunch, a boat ride on a lagoon and a horse back ride. The tour goes to a fishing village that has a beautiful lagoon with mangrove trees all over and the ocean right next to the lagoon. The ride on the lagoon is interesting because you can see different types of birds in a completely natural habitat. This tour last from 9:00 A.M., to 1:30 PM.

Recommendations: Bring sun block and mosquito repellent.

Horse Back Riding

Horse Back Riding - At a Coconot Plantation by the beach

Includes the transportation, horse back ride and tour guide service. Departure can be at any time of the day although I recommend better in the morning when is not so hot. It takes about 15 minutes to get from the hotel to where the horses are. The ride on the horse is for about 1 hour. The ride can be along the beach or out in the country.

Recommendations: Bring appropriate shoes and jeans to ride the horse , and also mosquito repellent.

Sports Fishing

Panga Boat - Captain Francisco Arciniega

Includes transportation from the hotel to the pier, a cooler with ice (so you can put sodas or beer in it), fishing license and all the fishing equipment, including live bait. Departure is at 6:00 A.M. from the lobby of your hotel. The fishing can be “Deep sea fishing” or “Small game”. The boat we use can be a 25’ panga boat or a 30’ yacht. The fishing is over by noon time.
